i am jacques abel lyon, the son of eugene and adeline lyon. my roots are french and i am from the city of paris. from a very young age i was indulged with wonderful and unique things. my parents had a wonderful amount of inheritance money from my grandparents and they took full advantage of having it. i must have only been a boy of about five or six when i was first taken to a circus. i will admit that i was not all that excited or thrilled to be going since i had far more things in my room, i thought. but as soon as the lights were out and the ringmaster had started the show, i was completely mesmerized. ever since i have had a liking for the circus and the acrobatics and colors... everything about it fascinated me. with my parents i could be anything... do anything. after that day i put all my efforts into putting together my very own circus.
as an older boy i started practicing magic. it was simple things, really. things like pulling a rabbit from a hat and a coin from behind a person's ear. but with my determination i went on to much bigger things, showing my talents to the world by entertain shows with the best, top of the line things thanks to my parents' support. in simple things like talent shows i was a hit. but i wanted more than just that. i wanted to be the leader of my very own circus.
the work on pulling together my own act of people was not an easy task. it took many years. for a long time we failed. i was stubborn then, refusing my parents money to start off my career. there were many times i had to shut down the activities and the performers walked out on me. i practiced night and day myself, trying to find ways to bring audiences in and captivate them. but it seemed an impossible task with the other competition and lack of funds that i suddenly had. i almost resorted to going to my parents but i stopped myself when i came across a very peculiar character.
he called himself maurice de sauveterre and he was dressed in a ringmaster's garb. he was young but his eyes said otherwise. to be honest, he was quite frightening to me at first. i could not lay my finger on why he made me uncomfortable though. but when he beckoned me over to sit with him i did so. i was desperate to escape my own misery and this man's mysteriousness had grabbed my attention. he spoke of his own circus and i was completely flabbergasted by the chances. in fact, so amazed that i started to chuckle and he questioned me. when i answered he just grinned at me and said he already knew who i was and that was why he had found me. his circus was a successful one and i had heard of it, even seen it with my very eyes. and he was leaving it. i was astounded and almost found myself getting into a debate with him but he stopped me. he wanted me to take over the cri de coeur. i had froze in place, completely shocked at this, as he had never met me. and he was so young but he kept reassuring me that he was old and tired. it was all so much and so great that i couldn't help but accept. he warned me though... and in the beginning i did not believe him... he warned me that the cri de coeur was cursed and as soon as i took it into my control i would have to live with it forever. my soul would be bound to it until i grew too tired to continue. but even in death my spirit would stay. i thought he was... insane... even though, i still accepted. he shook on it. things have never been the same.
i have been in the rule of this circus for over one hundred years. and i called him insane...
